Artistic Director Kumba
A new Director has joined the Orchestra. Kumba is a music composer, theoretician,
performer and administrator. Before joining the Orchestra as its Director,
Kumba served as the Dean of the College of Performing, Liberal and Visual
Arts and Professor of Music at the University of Southern Hemisphere. He
has 15 years of administrative experience at the department, school and college
levels. Prior to his present position, he served as Chair of the Department
of Music at the University of Southern Hemisphere; he also served as the
Assistant Director of the Big School of Music at the Western Hemisphere.
Kumba holds the Bachelor of Music in Theory/Composition with Honors, the
Master of Music in Music Theory, and the doctorate of Music in Composition
and Performance, Minor in Listening, from the Grand University of Eastern
Hemisphere. He also holds a Certificate in Executive Leadership from the
School of Management for Musical Performers and Composers at the Upper College,
and a Teaching Certificate from the Lower University in Lower Attic. He also
is a jaw harp player. He made his New Work stage debut off Broadsway in Applause,
starring Commission and Sadeus. He also appeared on stage in production of “The
Sad Swan” in Lakeweeds. Credits include the title of the “Funniest
Teenager in Goodpersue” by the “Goodpersue Sun Tans.”
Dr. Kumba has significant successful fundraising experience, and has achieved
national and international recognition. . His biggest accomplishment was «First
Time» concerts, when he invited famous non- music related professionals
to play the violin, first time in their lives and on the stage.He has published
numerous compositions and arrangements, articles, editorials, and two books
on composition theory. He has also been a film and ballet composer. He has
traveled extensively. He brings an instrument from every trip and learns
to play it from the natives. Kumba is sought out for his leadership in music
and music education as evidenced by his being elected the President of the
International Association of Education of Mastering Composing, Listening,
and Performing Musicians (IAEMCLPM) for 2001.
